Rhenish Hesse


Rhenish Hesse (German: Rheinhessen )

was one of three provinces of the Grand Duchy of Hesse and the popular state of Hesse who succeeded him after the First World War.
Rheinhessen with the cities of Bingen am Rhein , Mainz and Worms is bounded to the west by the Nahe and the Rhine Alsenz and the North and East . Besides the Rhine are the three most important rivers Selz , and Wiesbach Appelbach . The smaller ones are , for example , streams or the Pfrimm Seebach .


This province that existed from 1815 until 1937 , embraced the regions located on the left bank of the Rhine , as well as some places that traditionally belonged to the provincial capital of Mainz, below the cities of Kassel and Kostheim . Other important cities are Worms and Bingen am Rhein.

Oestrich -Winkel is a city in Hesse ( Germany) , located in the Rheingau -Taunus county , in the district of Darmstadt.

Bounded by Worms and Mainz south to the north, is by far the largest wine region in Germany with regard to the area , and the second for its production. Rheinhessen wines enjoyed great fame , during the reign of Charlemagne.


The Rheinhessen became famous overnight because of the excellent quality of wine produced in the vineyards surrounding the church Liebfrau Worms


This wine Liebfrauenmilch was a quality quite remarkable , now four regions have the right to produce , Rhenish Hesse , Rhineland- Palatinate, Rheingau and Nahe .


The current Liebfrauenmilch whose quality varies between reasonable wines and sweet wines , has nothing in common with the legendary wine .
The floor of the Rheinhessen is composed of loess , of chalky rocks and sand, which offers vast opportunities for growers inventive


The first wholes wines from Rheinhessen undoubtedly area Niertein or Riesling in particular gives excellent results on the sunny terraces overlooking the Rhine.
Riesling grapes give here sweet and fruity wines with mouth
Besides Riesling , there is also the Müller -Thurgau and Sylvaner for whites , the Portugieser and pinot noir for reds, Spätburgunder is one of the most remarkable red Germans , the small town of Ingelheim product in Grosslage Kaiserpfalz
