Peru and Vine
Peru, officially, is a country located west of South America.
Surrounded by Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile and the Pacific Ocean, it is the third largest country in South America by land area: 1,285,220 km2 and has 2414 miles coasts.
The climate is tropical in the east, dry desert to the west. Its coastal deserts are caused by the presence of an ocean current north-south, so cold that goes up the Pacific coast by blocking evaporation and the formation of rain disturbances.
In the Andes, the climate is temperate to cold depending on the altitude. Important volcanoes, El Misti and found Ubinas. The Huascaran, which stands at 6768 meters, is the highest peak in the Western Cordillera.
If there was a country where the wine was to be unlikely, it's Peru. Located, between the Pacific and the Andes, it rains only 0.2 mm per year.
However, snowmelt brings water in abundance, from the Andes and feeds groundwater
Desert, created by the decomposition of the Andes with sandy soils, poor but well suited to growing grapes.
As in all of South America, Spanish Conquistadors introduced the vine.
The main area is located in the Ica region, 300km south of Lima that is since colonial times the wine capital of Peru Spaniards implanted varietals from the Canaries and there cultivated the vine.
Production was embedded in the port of Pisco, which gave its name to the alcohol, contrary to what think is not Chilean but Peruvian.
Today, Ica worth a stop for its Harvest Festival, held the second week of March, it is known as the city of eternal spring.
Red wines are not left with mainly French varietals such as Tannat and Malbec, the grape varieties that are the most successful .
Other grape varieties have found them: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Muscat-Alejandria, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Ugni Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Tinto-White for white wines.
And: Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Merlot, Red-Tinto, Grenache, Barbera, Syrah, Pinot Noir, for red wines as well as wines from the traditional method and Blanc de Blanc
Peru is divided into 58 oasis some of which cultivate the vine.
Peru
The Peruvian economy is among the best in Latin America. This dynamism is mainly based on the export sector.
Among the natural resources include copper, silver, gold, oil, iron ore, coal and phosphates. Fishing is also an important natural and fruit trees resource.
Prone to earthquakes. Floods and landslides caused by El Niño.
The three large natural areas sonts: the "costa" (side) bordered by the Pacific Ocean, "sierra" (mountain), and the "jungle" (forest of the Peruvian Amazon)
South, have found Lake Titicaca, the largest lake in South America and the highest navigable lake in the world, perched between 3600 and 4500 meters above sea level.
The country is also endowed with exceptional natural resources, it is one of the seventeen countries with a mega biodiversity. It has 84 of the 117 existing natural areas in the world.
